Flying high: National trampoline champ Oliver Pinches
CHESHIRE’S high flyer Oliver Pinches somersaulted to success on the trampoline as he was crowned national champion in his age group.
The talented 12-year-old from Macclesfield competed against more than 550 top-performing entrants in the National Trampoline Finals, organised by the British Schools Gymnastics Association.
Representing Beech Hall School in Tytherington, Oli battled through the regional and zonal rounds of the tournament to secure his coveted place at the finals, where he beat others much older and more experienced to the title. Following hot on the heels of his national accolade, Oli celebrated further success when participating in two consecutive cheer competitions with his team.
The recently formed squad secured third place at the ICE Big Chill cheerleading competition, followed by a respectable sixth place at the ICC British Open Cheer Championships.
Oli’s headmaster James Allen said: “We are incredibly proud to have a national champion here, a truly outstanding achievement which is a testament to Oli’s remarkable determination and commitment to training.”
