A MINOR injuries unit in Altrincham will remain shut until at least August due to a shortage of nurses, according to reports.
Services at Altrincham Hospital in Trafford were suspended in 2021 due to a lack of emergency nurse practitioners.
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust said the impact of Covid-19 and higher than usual staff absences meant the nurses were needed elsewhere.
Lack of recruitment was also to blame, according to the BBC report.
It quoted trust strategy director Darren Banks who said it had been “trying very hard” to attract emergency nurse practitioners but added there was a “national challenge” in recruiting suitable staff.
