Left-winger Charlie Kirk is the latest addition to Alty’s squad after impressing during the pre-sea- son programme. The Winsford-born attacker arrives with an impressive pedi- gree of having made more than 300 appearances in the Football League, and, at 27 years of age, he is confident there is still plenty more to come. He told AltyTV: “It feels good to be here. I wouldn’t have come if I didn’t think Altrincham were an ambitious club, and I want to play a part in helping them fulfil those ambitions. “The gaffer’s approach really fits with the way I play football. I’d say I’mprobably a typical Alty and typ- ical Phil Parkinson type of player. I like the ball at my feet and going at a defender, and I like linking up with whoever is at left-back.” Parkinson said: “He is a player I never thought would be within our reach at 27 years old. The biggest thing for me was his desire to come to Altrincham. “His quality is unquestionable, and his pedigree speaks for itself. He is a player who should be play- ing at a much higher level, but for one reason or another, we find ourselves in the fortunate position where he is needing our support, and he will certainly help us, once we get him back on track”. Altrincham will also have a goalkeeper with Football League experience between the posts when the new season gets underway after landing highly-rated Luke Hutchin- son from Bolton Wanderers on a long-term loan. The Bury-born keeper is views by Parkinson as the ideal candidate to fill the number one jersey while Ethan Ross continues his recuper- ation from an anterior cruciate lig- ament injury. Parkinson told the club’s offi- cial website: “I’m really pleased to have got Luke over the line. He is a young, up-and-coming keeper who has already gained plenty of experience fromprevious loans with Marine and Crawley Town. “Currently, he has just signed a new two-year deal at Bolton, which shows how highly they regard him. Speaking of Bolton, I’d like to say a big thank you to them for helping us get this done. “It has been a long time coming, because a lot of due diligence has gone into it, a lot of planning and research for the type of keeper who is going to suit our needs and us suit them for a loan as well. “We feel we have found our man in Luke, and hopefully he can con- tinue his progression with us and help us move forward as well.” Independent LOCAL SPORT LOCAL CRICKET ROUND-UP Strengthening: Phil Parkinson has worked to add to his squad this summer THE end of July saw record-breaking scores, significant wins and per- formances of note right across the Cheshire County League.
